How do i prevent exorbitant international charges when travelling overseas?
When overseas your iPhone will be set to roaming, meaning your phone number remains the same but your calls and data will be routed through another network provider, who then bills your existing provider.
1. Always use your Apple iPhone's Wi-Fi connection where possible to check your email or browse the web, as generally you will not incur a charge unless specified.
2. If using the 3G network to check your email or browse the web be careful of opening large attachments or files.
3. Turning off the data roaming features on your iPhone means that while overseas (roaming) no data connections will be made to the iPhone's applications (email, web browser etc).
- Tap the 'Settings' button
- Tap the 'General' option
- Tap the 'Network' option
- Slide the 'Data Roaming' slider to Off
4. To monitor how much data you are using you can check your iPhone's data usage
- Tap the 'Settings' button
- Tap the 'General' button
- Tap the 'Usage' button
